Have Blog, Will Travel: What’s Your Favorite Spot in Saipan?

I leave for Saipan 10:30AM Monday morning.

So I thought I’d ask any of you Guamology readers who may have been or have heard of any good spots to check out when in Saipan.

I’ll be attending the 5th Annual Micronesian Youth Serivces Network(MYSN) Conference! For those whom remember, I entered an oratorical contest with the hopes of becoming a keynote speaker to represent Guam at the conference. Unfortunately, I did not win. I lost by 3 points to Gregory Ecle, a friend I’ve known since high school. The judges enjoyed my piece and offered me a plane ticket to the conference. Read my Guamology post on the contest here.

So, I’m very excited, and have yet to pack my bags!

But please comment and let me know of any great scenic sites/landscapes, shops, culture centers, restauraunts that are interesting.

I’ll be cataloging my trip with my small Canon Powershot A530, an older brother to the one Maria Sharipova uses in all her commericals for Canon ;)

I’ll also get the chance to hopefully sit down and speak with Sinangån-ta founder Melvyn Won Pat Borja and the delegation from YouthSpeaks Hawaii, poets Ittai Won, Alakai Kotrys, and Will Giles. Don’t forget to watch their performances on the Guam Musicians Initiative video channel, theinitiative.blip.tv

  1. The airport because it’s the only place I’ve been there. :P

  2. Easily, my fav places are Forbidden Island in Kagman, the Grotto in Marpi, Trench Tech MMA gym in San Antonio. And of course my house. But I’m not telling where that is. Lol. Have fun chelu.

  3. Hit up the Grotto for sure. Garapan for the women? haha… Man, its been ages since I’ve been to Saipan. Wasn’t much to do back then.

  4. My favorite places to EAT are Ebisuya and Oleai’s.

  5. Wish I had a rent-a-car, staying stuck in this hotel for 4 days is getting boring. But the conference is exciting!!!
