UOG University Musicians Present: Basically Back to the Beatles

University Music presents “Basically Back to the Beatles” — two evening concerts dedicated almost exclusively to a cappella and Big Band arrangements of songs written by Lennon and McCartney.

Featured will be performances by the University Singers and University Jazz Ensemble.

There are also a few Earth Wind & Fire pieces that will be performed.
Also, by going, you’ll also be supporting the University Jazz Ensemble and Orchestra for their tour to Japan this summer.

The event will be held at 8 p.m. March 27 and 28 at the UOG Fine Arts Theater.
Tickets are $5 for general admission and $3 for student/senior admission.

Krystal Paco from Freedom Fries and the former Jazz Diva for Patrick Palomo’s Late Show band will be performing in both groups, and I also believe that Michael’s brother Jeremie and the other members of Freedom Fries/Table For Five horn sections, JR and Tim, will be performing as well.

  1. Thanks Jayton for all the support!!! BTW, the band is simply called the UOG Jazz Band. :D

  2. Anytime KPac!
I won’t be able to make it, but best of luck to you all :)

Strawberry Fields Forever is playing in the back of my mind :D

  3. I wish I could make it but I’m already going to Sinangan-ta’s Last Word tonight and then Kantan Chamoritta tomorrow night.

The Beatles song I’m thinking of right now is “Girl” from Rubber Soul. That’s one of those songs that means different things before and after you become a parent. It used to have romantic meanings to it for me, but now its all about being colonized by a demanding child who is still so cute!

“Is there anybody going’ to listen to my story
All about the girl who came to stay?
    She’s a kind of girl you want so much it makes you sorry;
Still, you don’t regret a single day.
    Ah, girl!”

  4. Man I wanted to go last night but i was busy, I want to go tonight but Im still damn busy. :(

Man, I love the Beatles though.

  5. Hey, Michael. We don’t do that song at our concert, but it is a good song. I remember it most as the opening from Across the Universe.

A lot is going on this weekend, so it’s cool you can’t go. There will be other concerts. :D

  6. Thanks Krystal or KPAC. (now I finally know who KPAC is when I hear music majors at UOG talk).

I’m looking forward to the next UOG concert. I enjoy going to see Jeremy’s concerts at UOG, but its my daughter Sumahi who really loves going to see him when he performs. He’s her favorite uncle and so the only event that she’ll sit through and pay attention is one which has him on stage.

  7. OH! I only saw this article now! And the event is in 10 minutes =( Wish I could go! This looks awesome. Let me know how it goes!

  8. Haha, Nice to meet you, Michael. Yes, I’m the infamous KPac (trying to be cool like Tupac Shakur).

The concert went really well. Too bad it was under advertised. Tonight’s concert had less audience members than last night. It’s okay. There will be others. :D

  9. Yeah, but you guys had to contend with Sinangån-ta, PXC, and Kantan Chamorrita, and that event at Merizo Pier

    No worries Krystal.
