L.A. Day 05 – Under the American Sun Q&A
It’s been pretty hectic with our schedules here and so we’re trying our best to get all the daily vids posted on time, so please excuse us if we’re straggling a bit.
After the successful screening we had with all the cool folks that came out AND the “Hafa Adai Hollywood After Party”, Day 05 started with Don waking up in the early morning to drive our brother (and associate producer) Mike to the airport for his trip back home to Houston. It was great seeing him again and although it was a bit short, it was worth every second. Thanks, pow!
After a bit of rest, we were back on the Hollywood Freeway to catch the encore screening of “Under the American Sun” at the DGA Theaters. We all showed up to show support to director Burt Sardoma Jr. and producers Bernadette Provido Schumman and Alex Munoz.
We also got the chance to see other cool shorts called “Double Happiness” and “Kung-Fu Granny” which were very cool. Shout out to Laurie and Myra!
Coming in at just over twenty minutes, I’m proud to say that the documentary piece was extremely insightful, moving and reflective. We’re all very proud of the “UTAS” crew! Abel and Don offered to take photos of their Q&A session after the screening, since Burt has been more than kind to do the same for us during ours. I took the MPEGs, but it came out pretty dark with the low light in the theater. As I was listening to the Q&A with Burt and Bernadette, I couldn’t help to think that with “Shiro’s Head”, “Under the American Sun” and “Guam is Crying” all playing at this year’s fest, it really is a milestone for Guam and for the fest. It was a great feeling and we were all very proud to be a part of it.
Stay tuned for Day 06!

Love the elevator music. Glad to see you’re actually sleeping, even if it is in the bathroom!
